The Old Mage MTG Podcast

Today we have some more mono-green matters to discuss. After a brief discussion of ways to generate card advantage with a few unique green spells (I'm still learning how to take advantage of Mulch), we review some classic Stompy decks from the heart of the Premodern era. Hope you enjoy!

Today we review the recent evolution of a Premodern deck that I wish I built. That deck is Oath Ponza, or TerraOath and it is way better than the puny little mono-green deck that I designed, which ramps out Mirri Cat Warrior and Ravenous Baloths. Whoop-dee-frickin'-doo. We also discuss the recent sale of the original Force of Will art. Finally, we bring back the Old Men Magic Commander Corner because I bought myself an Oubliette and I now need to figure out what the hell to do with it. Hope you enjoy!

In today's episode, we bring to an end (for now) our discussion of clerics with a review of our favorite Premodern clerics in black. Plus some gold clerics, some green clerics, some blue clerics, some old-school clerics and some deck discussion. We talked for 2.5 hours and just scratched the surface, but we had to end it there because Alex needed to let his dog out and I had to make queso dip for the Taco Tuesday potluck at work. It turned out awful so I had to swing by Kroger the next morning for a few jars of Tostitos Salsa con Queso. It's made with real milk and cheese!!! You should try eating it cold if you haven't. It's delish.

In today's episode, we begin our review of Premodern Clerics with the white clerics. We also talked about when Justin Bieber said that he hoped Anne Frank would've been a Belieber had she survived the Nazi invasion and we review a card that looks suspiciously like Iron Chef Michael Symon. Hope you enjoy!

We are back from our brief hiatus and ready to discuss more old-frame cardboard. In my quest to build a fun and at least slightly competitive Premodern Slivers deck, I've been doing some playtesting and some netdecking. In this episode, we discuss a few of the most interesting old-frame Slivers decks I've come across during my search. Several are classics that placed in the top 8 of extended tournaments back in the day, while one is a more recent concoction of the Gro-A-Tog type. We hope you enjoy!

Another week, another zombie for us to discuss. In this episode we discuss Zombie Infestation from Odyssey, review a few of the earliest decks that leveraged this card to power reanimation and discard strategies on the tournament scene, and have a look at how some are utilizing this card these days in the Premodern format. Thanks for listening!

In part 2 of our 2-part episode on Premodern zombies, we present to you... even more zombies. These are my B-team zombies that aren't shoe-ins for a competitive zombie deck but definitely add some spice to the kitchen table. Yes we tried to keep this episode under 2h long. Yes we failed to do so because there are just too many rotting flesh-bags to discuss in the world of old-frame MTG.

In today's episode, we review some Premodern zombies. The A-team zombies that should be considered for any old-frame zombie deck. It's part 1 of a 2-parter because there are too many Premodern zombies to fit into a single episode unless we made it 5h long and I can't pod for that long without a nap.
