Welcome everybody. Today we discuss the impact that Alliances had when it first hit the scene in 1996 and we review some of the rares that are most interesting to us. Including a couple that can now be combo'd (sp?) in the most ridiculous ways with some cards that appeared a little later in Magic's history. Back in our prime playing days, that Phyrexian Devourer just sat around collecting dust. Most importantly, Alex selects his 2024 old-frame commander and the crowd goes wild. I also continue my streak of reading card texts incorrectly on the show, stating what I wish they did instead of what they actually do.

Today we move on from the dark days of Homelands to reminisce about the expansion set that saved MTG. It's time for Alliances! A set with lower casting costs, higher power levels, and playable cards at all rarity levels. We also take a look at some wild price swings in the new Cats and Dogs Secret Lair and Alex gets one step closer to finalizing his 2024 Commander.

Today we discuss everyone's favorite set to hate. It's Homelands time! Thanks to the Grand Creature Type Update, a few of these cards have improved considerably over time, but the set as a whole is still about as terrible as we remember. Bad enough to nearly make a young fella quit MTG. Or at least, stop buying booster packs.

We head back to 1995 to finish our discussion of Ice Age with the rares. We remember some old classics we played back then and review some cards we overlooked at the time but would love to brew with now. Why did I consistently play Reverse Damage but ignore Necropotence back in the day you might ask? Because I was 13 and my brain wasn't fully formed yet. That's why. And now that it is fully formed, it's still not that impressive. We can't all be Jon Finkel.
