The Old Mage MTG Podcast

Welcome everybody. Join us as we discuss "that stupid green deck" that was trouncing opponents in the spring of '98 with a bevy of toolbox creatures and a trusty ol' 5/4 trampler with a downside that was ripe for exploitation. We also briefly review the Premodern legal reprints in Innistrad Remastered. Hope you enjoy!

Welcome everybody. Join us as we discuss a classic Rebels vs Rebel battle from PT Chicago in the year 2000. A year when Fires dominated the top 8 but could not take the top spot from Rebels. We wrap things up by discussing what some are doing with Rebels in the Premodern format today. Hope you enjoy!

Welcome everybody. Join us as we discuss some cards that took the white weenie archetype to a new level in the Standard environment of 1998. Even Mike Long, perched atop his chair, ProsBloom combo in hand, was powerless when faced with this pile.

Welcome everybody. Join us as we discuss the cycle of Avatars from Prophecy, which is a notoriously bad set, but I believe some of these creatures can do solid work at the kitchen table. Welcome everybody. Join us as we discuss Forbidian, a Weatherlight/Tempest block deck that soft-locks opponents with a combination of card draw and countermagic with a buyback. It's the type of deck that makes you want to flip a damn table on a blue mage. We also talk about Serrated Illusionist, our first foray into the world of modern MTG with Bloomburrow precons, and more. Hope you enjoy!

Welcome everybody. Join us as we discuss a boring ass dumb-shit control deck called Turbo Abeyance (not my words, I love the deck) that really ruined the vibes for all control deck haters back in 1997. We also review some more of my recent bulk buys. This time focusing on some of the budget options for building an old-frame red land destruction deck. Those also ruin the vibes for some.
