Today's episode is a grab bag of topics about cards old and new (mostly old) that are currently occupying the minds of the co-hosts. I miss my Mana Drains. And I still don't want a Mana Crypt but I admit it is far better than I realized it was way back in 1995.

How to Generate Card Advantage in Green | The Old Men Magic Podcast Ep. 25
Sunday Feb 12, 2023
Sunday Feb 12, 2023
A lot has happened in green since the Old Men were casting their Forces of Nature (Force of Natures?). It's even got some card advantage now. In this episode, we discuss some Premodern-legal spells that have a built-in Regrowth function, generate multiple threats from a single spell and even some straight-up friggin' card draw. I want to play green but I also don't want to be stuck in topdeck mode from turn four on.

The Pitch Spells From Mercadian Masques | The Old Men Magic Podcast Ep. 24
Sunday Jan 29, 2023
Sunday Jan 29, 2023
Today we discuss more pitch spells. This time, it's the cycle from Mercadian Masques, which was printed after we stopped playing the first time around in the late 90s. I'm looking forward to giving these a spin in some premodern decks. Except for Cave-In. Cave-In is turrible. We then followed up by reviewing some recent purchases and adding a few cards to out first Commander decks, which are sloooooowly coming together.

The intro audio is shit but it gets better. I promise! Today we discuss some of the Hidden cards from Urza's block, as well as some other minor market moves that caught our eye. Then we review our two favorite Secret Lairs from the December 2022 Superdrop, followed by an introduction to some of the things kids these days are doing with Demonic Consultation. Thassa's Oracle ain't my jam but I also like playing with Jacque le Vert as my commander, so what the hell do I know?

MTG Market Moves in Antiquities | The Old Men Magic Podcast Ep. 22
Saturday Jan 14, 2023
Saturday Jan 14, 2023
WE OUT HERE SHOWING SPREADSHEETS MAN. Welcome back to the pod everybody. After a short discussion of my current struggles with constructing my first Commander deck, we revisit Contagion, browse some black removal alternatives, then discuss Mining For Old School Spikes: Part 1 – Antiquities, a MTG finance article from 2018 that we recently read and enjoyed. After laying out a process for identifying old school cards that are poised for price appreciation, the author makes a case for targeting certain cards for investment. We take a look at their current prices. She definitely nailed some that we would've totally overlooked.
Shoutout to The Alpha Hoarder. That Ashnod's Transmogrant art is sick.

Happy New Year's everyone. We begin this episode by recounting our epic New Year's Day premodern green stompy vs. B/U magic battle. We then discuss our MTG project for 2023, which is to build our first ever Commander decks. Old-frame cards only, Alpha to Scourge, cEDH (cEDH stands for casual EDH on The Old Men Magic Podcast by the way). We hardly know a darn thing about Commander so we are starting where all newbs should start. With a review of the official rules. Finally, we discussed the pitch spell cycle from Alliances. Are there more unbalanced cycles out there? It's not Ancestral Recall to Healing Salve bad but it's certainly up there.

The Old Men Magic Podcast Ep. 20: Market Moves and More Premodern Goblins.
Saturday Jan 07, 2023
Saturday Jan 07, 2023
Merry belated Christmas everybody. The old men are back with more casual cardboard conversation. In this episode, we pray to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that dual lands are banned in commander (then maybe they'll be more affordable). We also review market moves in some old-frame cards that are of interest to us, and discuss even more premodern goblins. Some of these gobos are so spicy, they will melt your damn face off. Goblin Mutant will not melt any faces.

The Old Men Magic Podcast Ep. 19: My Premodern Goblin Starting Lineup
Monday Dec 26, 2022
Monday Dec 26, 2022
On this episode of The Old Men Magic Podcast, the goblin talk begins. I review my Premodern goblin starting lineup. These are the goblins that I believe are auto-includes in any solid Premodern goblin deck. We also discuss that weird thing our former President did (shame on him for making these NFTs and not good old-fashioned cardboard), and we discuss some market moves in the world of mtgfinance.
